Just a quick record, simple riffing and good ol' palm mute, using the power amp section of the Mark V and a Quad Pre. Cabinet is a Randall ISO cab, with V30. Mic is a Shure SM57; everything played with an ESP EX with 81/60, but I used only the 81.

Quad Pre is on the Lead 1 channel all the time, and Mark V is on channel 3 on the Mark IV and Extreme modes, 90w, using only pentode. In the end, I also record the same thing only with the Mark V, on the Mark IV and Extreme modes.

So it goes like this, from the beginning to the end: Quad + Mark V on IV, Quad + Mark V on Extreme, Mark V on IV, and Mark V on Extreme. I didn't touch anything from one track to another, so expect a difference of volume in the Extreme mode.

Hi there!

Recorded with the same stuff as usual, with a Quad pre on lead 1 all the time trough a 50/50 and a Rectifier 2x12. Used an ESP M-II and my custom kind of flaming V guitar; first with EMG 81 combo and the second with 81-60, but doesn't matter since I used only the 81 during all the track.
And a heavy use of the ADA mq1, trying to get as close as possible to black's album sound, at least to this song, so probably the settings are slighty different than my last track. No postprocessing eq, and no other effects.
Mics are Shure SM57 and AKG C3000B, and recorded with a Presonus Firebox sound card.

This song is Rise, from The Cult.
Recorded with a 2x12 Rectifier cab, Mesa's 50/50 poweramp and Quad pre on Channel 1 all the time. The guitar is a LTD EC-Redburn; it's similar to a LTD EC1000.

The mics are Shure SM57 and AKG C3000B. It's sound pretty rough and "unfancy" IMO, but the idea was to get a raw and not post-processed sound from it, so no post EQ, compression or stuff like that.

The original song was recorded on dropped D, but I recorded it on dropped C.

Enjoy! :)

Hi!

Another record from Sepultura, this is Slave New World. It´s recorded with all you can see in the list, plus an AKG C3000B as second mic, trough a Mesa/Boogie 50/50. This time I tried to get close to the album's sound, for that I used an ADA MQ-1 graphic eq. The guitar is a LTD EC-Redburn, similar to the LTD EC1000.

Schecter DG w/Duncan DD/JB + Mesa/Boogie Quad MarkIIc+ (mix test 2 w/1073 impulses)

Tried to mix and master using only the Neve 1073 EQ impulses from the Redwirez Big Box set via the MixIR2. The drums are the only track where I kept all the crazy EQs and plugins and just added the 1073 on top of that. Used the PSPMixSaturator2+Waves L3 on the mix then decided one more pass of Waves L3 on the bounced track because it was a bit thick still. (actually no bass guitar in this so might be a different ballgame next time just thought A/B this since it was the last thing I did with the Quad and you can compare).

Just something to play around with until I get my Daking Mic Pre One. Thought these impulses improved the sound a lot. Real easy to create any kind of sound without a bunch of EQ-ing and plugins. My favorite plug Mellowmuse EQ1A I can't even use any more lol. Next time I will track with a nice clean Trident flavored hardware preamp boost and at 24/96. Trying out a reel to reel also for some real saturation also.
