This is the first time I tried to go midi-usb from my Roland TD-6v kit (still learning to play and tweak) into reaper. Recorded as midi and used EZdrummer as the VST. To be honest, I think the Roland kits sound pretty good with the brain as compared to the VST, course I have no clue how to tweak it just yet. Just threw 2 shitty tracks into a crunch sound on line6 stuff. Basically just a drum recording test.
This is a little acoustic clip of Allison Road. I just started trying to sing so I wanted to try and use this as a comparison for down the road. I got some feedback about getting better at breath control from the HCAF guys so its a work in progress but its fun so far.
Cab>MIC>GNX xlr input. I am going to send this to get modded and hopefully get a little better tone at a more reasonable volume, just use this putzing track as a comparison. This was 2.5 on the master and I still cant be certain I have the mic in the best location. No post eqing, single tracked.
This is an acoustic clip I made while messing with my first condensor mic (MXL V63M). I dont have another condensor to compare it to but I think this mic has some nice vibe to it. Was recorded under and slightly away from mic at the 12th fret. Alvarez acoustic (RD20s, E stand tuned)>MXL V63m. No eqing done and its a single track, just a work in progress since I cant remember the song and got lost in the middle anyway.
I couldnt get along with the bass with this one but when I tried to eq it out afterward, made it sound artificial. It was punchy in the room but flubbed in the track. Amp was about noon on vol, super loud. Tried to put a little bit of a modern spin on this old Dokken song.
This is chan 2, gain maxed, no boost. Fought with mic positioning for a while. After a couple hours my tinitus is so bad, I am just rolling with this clip as I thought it sounded better than the other ones I tried today, but still not even close to capturing what is in the room. Enough excuses...
Working on mic placement and might be getting a little better result, thats my main focus at this point, without phase issues. Amp was only on 2 though, shoulda probably been louder and coulda used a titch more mids. No noise suppressor for this one, trying to dial in a nice gain without it.
